Kiesha gives us tools to work through our daily stressors
You may remember Kiesha Yokers from episode 79. She is a breathwork facilitator that uses somatic tools to address trauma in the body. In addition to being a certified holistic health coach, she uses her background in education to connect us to breathwork concepts in ways that are easy to understand, digest and implement.
And now Kiesha is officially the Head of Breathwork and Somatic Programs at Lindywell. In addition to creating the Breathwork for Mental Clarity, Breathwork for Sleep, Breathwork for Anxiety, and Breathwork for Grounding and Gratitude sessions in the app.
Stress affects us in multiple ways
Living in our modern world often causes us to maintain a constant state of stress. Stress affects us in a number of ways: it affects sleep, brings on aches and pains, affects digestion, the ability to recover from illness, and even reduces longevity.
The way out of this stressful state is to live in a permanent state of calm by slowing down and connecting the mind and body. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done.
One way to do this is through breathwork. Breathwork is a way to navigate and mitigate stress in our lives so that we can make the journey in the best way possible.
Kiesha helps give us tools and practices so that we can stay healthy. While none of us can remove stress from our lives forever, with the right tools we can understand how to manage it.
The missing ingredient in our wellness routines
Pilates is one of the few forms of exercise that connects the mind and body. While we work through the movements we also focus on breathing which is one reason that we all feel so good after our Pilates workouts.
The main way to support our nervous system is to use breathwork. Breathwork is a way to slow down and create more rest in our lives. By using breathwork tools we have a way to come back to a state of calm.
