This week, Mercury enters Aquarius, the Sun dances with Uranus, we are gifted a new Moon in Aquarius, and we continue to explore the recent era-defining movement of Pluto in Aquarius. As the Sun continues to be in Aquarius, we dance with the revolutionary air sign and its themes of evolution, innovation, and expansion of consciousness.
Mercury Enters Aquarius
In astrology, air signs represent the mind. They are ideas, consciousness, mental processing, learning, information, communication, and more. Their magic lies in the perspective that all manifestation begins through thought.
Mercury, too, is connected to the mind. It is our mental processing, our learning, and our communicating. It is the structures that create worlds within our minds. No one’s inner environment or experience is like that of another. In this way, Mercury dictates what we see and how we relate to and understand life around us.
When Mercury enters Aquarius on February 5, 2024, it broadens our minds to something much larger, that lies beyond the usual confines of thinking and understanding. It is where we look beyond ways of thinking that are outdated or limiting our magic in any way. It is where our thoughts seemingly tune into higher consciousness, the collective highway of potentials in the cosmos. It is the expansion of the individual mind into the Universal mind. Mercury will will remain here until February 23, 2024.
Mercury Conjunct Pluto
January 2024 brought the era-defining transit of Pluto into Aquarius, transforming the entire fabric not just of the collective psyche and structures but our own inner world and foundations. As Mercury enters Aquarius on February 5, 2024, it comes into partnership with Pluto, which is also in Aquarius.
In mythology, Mercury was the only God that could, and would, willingly travel into the heavens and the underworld, gathering information and acting as a divine communicator between these two seemingly opposing sides of life. The mind has the same capacity. Layered and multi-faceted, the mind takes us into the highest cosmic spaces and deepest underworld. It remind us they are One in the same.
While Mercury travels within Aquarius, it heightens our intuitive capacity and mental awareness to all that exists above—the cosmos, higher potentials, cosmic information, and new ideas. As it collaborates with Pluto, it also reaches deep into the depths of our psyche. It takes us into the underworld of who we are, revealing insights, offering information, expanding our awareness of the spaces within us often less travelled.
Mercury conjunct Pluto in Aquarius is a beautiful opportunity for revelation, liberation, and empowerment. It is where the connection between our conscious and unconscious minds is strengthened, heightened, and clear. We are like Mercury, relaying information between both worlds.
This conjunction takes us deep within to reveal unconscious drivers, fears, and emotions that direct much of our reactions, decisions, and actions beyond our awareness. As it does so, it brings in higher consciousness, imbued with liberation, opportunity, and freedom.
Sun Square Uranus
Another dance happening in the cosmos is that of the Sun, which is the core of our identity and life force, and Uranus, the visionary planet and ruler of Aquarius that is known for evolution, liberation, awakening, and higher consciousness. The partnership will express itself much of the week, with the pinnacle taking place on February 8, 2024.
Uranuian energy is quick, sharp, activating, and expansive. Like Aquarius, it looks toward the future. Part of its purpose is in the destabilization of what is, a cracking open of structures, so that it may make space for what is yet to come. It is within this space that new ways of being may begin to stream forth.
As the Sun and Uranus collaborate in our skies, so do these two archetypes and ways of being within us. Our Sun sign is the unique spark of light that we each are. It is the core of ourself, the unique frequency that brings color, variety, and difference to us all.
Yet it, too, can sometimes find itself holding onto narratives, stories, and structures. What does it mean to be you? And where does your mind go when that question is asked? Does it go to core memories or identities placed on you from others? Does it go to your hopes and dreams, your career, your family roles, and responsibilities?
Uranus cracks open our identity structures so that we may reclaim our sense of self and allow ourself and our expression to move past any outdated structures and identities that are not aligned so as to bring in more of who we are becoming.
It reminds us that, in many ways, the expression of our spirit is limitless. It is far beyond any labels we could place on ourselves and far beyond the structures of our mind. It is too much to be contained by any one role, experience, or perception. It is multifaceted, colorful, expansive, and always in motion.
New Moon in Aquarius
Adding to our already liberating, opening, and expansive week is a beautiful new Moon in Aquarius. A new Moon is where all potentials exist. It is the frequency that imbues all form, the energetic that exists before the physical, and the desires that we plant into the ethers.
This new Moon is a channel through which change can reach into each of our lives, through which unseen information, perspectives, and opportunities shine through. Holding within it the energies of the entire week, the lunation reminds us of our mind’s role as a divine transmitter of wisdom and receptor of information. Our bodies role as vessels for change, for the future to become the present, for potential to become manifest. Our visions, desires, and inspirations a part of the divine dance of personal, collective, and universal desires and evolution.
It shows us the spaces beyond our accepted boundaries, both individually and collectively. Beyond the structures we know and understand and beyond the narratives we have been born into. What if there were different ways? New ways? What if change comes from exploring beyond these boundaries and looking beyond? What if it is through reaching higher and connecting our individual mind with the universal mind that we are able to see beyond these boundariess, narratives, and ways of being?
