This week, the Moon meets her fullness in Virgo while a highly anticipated astrological event, Saturn’s entrance into Pisces, initiates a new three-year chapter.

Full Moon in Virgo

While we structure our lives according to the Gregorian calendar, astrology exists within its own measurement of time. This week’s full Moon is a final release before the astrological new year begins on March 20, 2023, with the Sun entering Aries.

Observing the cycles of the Moon, we know that a full Moon is a culmination. The Moon has been building and building, becoming fuller and fuller, until she reaches fullness and she cannot build any longer.

From here, the only option is release.

As the Moon’s reflected light illuminates the night, it acts as a metaphoric illumination for our inner selves, bringing light to our shadows and revealing what was previously unseen. When there is awareness, the natural tendency is toward release.

Sitting in the realm of Virgo, this full Moon on March 7, 2023, speaks to us through our bodies, through our seemingly mundane day-to-day functions and supportive routines, habits, and rituals, and through the grounded, practical, and deep medicine that can be found within clarity and organization.

As the Moon shines in Virgo, the Sun resides in its opposite zodiac sign, Pisces, the realm of the mystical, the magical, and where Oneness resides. Astrology teaches us that while everything is dual, opposites are really one. When we are connecting with opposite signs, such as with this week’s full Moon, the invitation is to integrate the two into one.

Consider how you can bring the magical into the mundane? How can you allow grounded tools and practical habits to be the container through which the mystical and the divine are experienced? And how can you allow your physical body to be the most aligned and supportive home for your spirit?

Saturn in Pisces

Just an hour after the Moon meets her peak fullness, the cosmos initiates a highly anticipated movement of Saturn entering Pisces. While our inner planets—including Mercury, Venus, and Mars—move signs every two to six weeks, the outer planet of Saturn remains in each sign for two to three years. As it moves into Pisces this week, it marks the beginning of a chapter that will continue into 2026.

While Pisces exists within the mystical realms, Saturn governs our physical realm. Known as the father of time, structure, and boundaries, Saturn invites us into self-mastery. It reminds us of the gifts found within patience, discipline, and self-responsibility. The invitations and lessons with Saturn are ones that cannot be rushed, which is why we have these next three years to settle into them.

These next few years will bring together the boundless nature of Pisces and attempt to contain it within the structured boundaries of Saturn. Here, we will be met with challenges of spiritual and emotional boundaries and discipline, all in the name of mastering the Self. We will be met with opportunities to take responsibility for our intuition, our faith, and our healing.

Most exciting about this new chapter, Saturn in Pisces also invites us to explore a new relationship with energy and matter, frequency and form. In other words, manifestation, or the process of taking something which was once imagined and placing it into reality.

This day also marks the first Saturn Return, which is often likened to a three-year initiation of maturation, for many of us born between 1993 and 1996.

Your Invitation

This week the central focus is March 7, 2023. With this illuminating full Moon and major movement of Saturn into Pisces, there is real inner and outer transition occurring on this day.

With all transitions, we are often led to our edges where the only option from there is to let go. To let go of the beliefs of who we once were, so that we may be reborn into who we are now and into who we are becoming. The Moon is meeting her edges on this day, where all that is left is surrender. Surrender to all that she has been building and creating herself to be.

The same applies to us. It is a full Moon of release and change.

Later in the month, when the new astrological year begins on March 20, 2023, we are beginning an entirely new 12-month cycle. This full Moon is where we say goodbye to all that we are leaving in this almost-finished chapter. This is where we allow the brightness of the full Moon to illuminate the parts of ourselves that we no longer require to carry with us any longer.

And, as Saturn moves into Pisces, we simultaneously initiate a new journey. Meeting new edges, meeting new terrain within ourselves, and like the beginning of all great journeys, we often begin with some stumbling around. The moments where we are learning to navigate this new world and find our footing.

It’s a week of change. So allow yourself time, space, grace, and compassion as you meet your edges and stumble around in a time of sacred transition.
